Attorney General James to Launch Statewide ‘HealNY’ Tour to Deliver Funds to Communities Most Impacted by Opioid Crisis

NEW YORK ___ Attorney General Letitia James will begin her ‘HealNY’ statewide tour that will deliver up to $1.5 billion to New York communities most impacted by the opioid crisis. Attorney General James will make two announcements that deliver funds to local communities to use for opioid prevention, treatment, and recovery in New York City and on Long Island.

Today’s announcements are the first in Attorney General James’ statewide tour taking place throughout October, where she will highlight her efforts to combat the opioid crisis in New York and across the nation.

Both events will be livestreamed at ag.ny.gov/livestream.

All members of the media attending the event in person must show proof of full vaccination (at least two weeks since your final shot) or a negative PCR test within the past 72 hours. Proof must be shown upon entry. Acceptable proof includes a photo of a vaccination card or Excelsior Pass and must indicate two shots of Moderna or Pfizer, or one shot of J&J/Janssen or a photo of a negative COVID-19 PCR test from the prior 72 hours.

Space will be limited, as social distancing rules will be enforced. Everyone in the building will be required to wear a mask and comply with COVID-19 safety protocolsDue to space constraints, reporters must RSVP in advance and must be given written confirmation to enter the building. Those without a confirmation will not be able to attend in-person and can stream via satellite or online. Reporters must also confirm if they are bringing a video camera or still camera.
