BP ADAMS STATEMENT ON SURGE IN ANTI-ASIAN HATE CRIMES IN NEW YORK CITY

NEW YORK:____ “Violence against Asian-Americans has become far too common in our city. No matter what the motives are behind these attacks, many of our neighbors are afraid to step outside for fear of being verbally or physically accosted. As advocates and elected leaders come together to condemn the surge in anti-Asian hate crimes, I urge the City to do more to combat this growing crisis. Every district attorney’s office in the city needs a robust hate crime unit. The NYPD must prioritize language justice for victims to make it easier to safely report, and it must dedicate more resources to its Asian Hate Crimes Task Force. Hate of any kind has no place in our city.”
